Just a reminder - registration for the GF Hoops Youth Referee Training Program closes this Thursday!
We’re inviting students in 7th–10th grade to apply to become a trained referee for our Winter House League. If you are looking for a fun, challenging and rewarding first job experience — this is it!
Why join the GF Hoops Youth Referee Program?
This program is more than just a job. First-year referees receive thorough training, hands-on mentoring, and continuous support throughout the season. While building a future resume and college application, they’ll learn valuable life skills like:
- Time management
- Communication
- Handling feedback and evaluations
- Managing real-time, on-court decisions
And yes — it’s paid! Referees start at $15 per game, officiating weekend games, primarily in grades 3–4, with flexible scheduling.
What to Expect:
-
Mandatory pre-season training (5 sessions) in September–October
-
On-court, real-game simulation training with experienced refs
-
Ongoing mentoring and feedback throughout the season
-
An online rules exam and scheduling system orientation
-
Referee jersey and whistle provided upon completion of training
Spots are limited — only 20-25 new referees are accepted each year after try-outs.
How to Register:

This is an amazing opportunity for young athletes or sports fans to learn, grow, and lead on and off the court. Don’t miss your chance to be part of an elite referee crew this season! Training starts mid-September.
