GGC (Grade Group Coordinator) FAQs

  • What are the main responsibilities of a Grade Group Coordinator?

The Grade Group Coordinator (GGC) serves as the primary liaison between House League Directors, coaches, players, and families. The GGC helps keep the grade group organized, coaches supported, families informed, and league activities running smoothly throughout the season.

Before registration closes: Promoting registration and recruiting coaches.

Before the season: Preparing for evaluations, assisting with the draft, coordinating practices, and distributing equipment and jerseys.

During the season: Communicating with coaches and families, answering questions, sending reminders, and helping address issues as they arise.

End of season:  Collecting end of season play eval data from coaches, and All-Star nominations; Supporting the Championships, All-Star events, trophies, player awards, and other end-of-season activities.

  • What is the GGC's role in House Evaluations and the Draft?

The GGC assists the House League Directors with player evaluations. Responsibilities may include checking in players and updating their information, organizing evaluation groups, helping evaluators and coaches, recording information, and making sure the process runs efficiently.

The GGC assists the House League Directors with preparing for and conducting the team draft. This may include organizing player information and evaluation results, preparing draft materials, answering procedural questions, and helping ensure league draft rules are followed.

  • Does the GGC communicate directly with families?

Yes. While families receive league-wide communications, the GGC provides additional grade-specific reminders and information. Typically, the communications should be directed to coaches for distribution to the families though.  This might include evaluation details, practice information, schedule reminders, special events, deadlines, or other information specific to the grade.

The GGC is often the first point of contact for routine questions or concerns. Many issues can be resolved simply by providing information, sending links to information on the website or clarifying league policies.

More significant concerns involving league rules, player placement, coaching issues, sportsmanship, or other sensitive matters should be referred to the appropriate House League Director.

  • Does the GGC create the game schedule?

No. Game scheduling is handled at the league level. However, the GGC helps communicate schedules, changes, deadlines, and other grade-specific information to coaches and families.

  • Does the GGC help coordinate practices?

Yes. The GGC helps manage the process for coaches to select available practice slots supplied by the league and communicates practice information and deadlines.

  • Does the GGC handle uniforms and equipment?

The GGC may also assist with distributing trophies, and other end-of-season items.
