Important-when you click on the link below, you will be brought to a green “GFHoops” Homepage.  Once on this page

• Click on LOGIN button on the top right of the page
• Login to your account (or CREATE ACCOUNT if you are new to GFHoops)
•  - RETURNING GFHoops Families - be sure to update your street address and email address, if necessary  
• Once in your account, you will see your PARTICIPANTS NAMES (ie your children/if new setting up a new account be sure to add all your children first), next to your child’s name will be a blue button that states “programs available”, click on this button to see all of the program available for your child’s grade
• REMINDER-Grades 5-8-Only register your child for House OR Select, do not register your child for both.  If they are interested in trying out for Select register only for Select and if they do not make a team, they will automatically be moved to House

HOUSE PROGRAM:

The House Basketball Program is a purely recreational league for our community children in KINDERGARTEN through 12TH grades.  Players are required to be registered in the Grade that they are currently in for the 2023-24 school year.

Great Falls Basketball participants play in either the Boys or Girls House leagues, which are run in the local school gyms. After 9/26 the registration fee will increase to $225. After 11/5 all registrants will be put on a wait list. 

Please register as soon as possible. We need to know how many players we have in order to identify the correct number of qualified coaches in a timely manner for all age groups. This year, for HOUSE, you will have the option to designate ONE weeknight that your child can NOT practice.  This allows us to make sure your child is on a team that they can regularly attend practices.  It is assumed that your child will be available the other 4 nights of the week.  House players will be asked to review and confirm their Can Not Practice date selection when they attend House Evaluations in early November.

Coaches will assess the skills of House League participants at 'House Evaluations'. The House Evaluations will be held November 1-6; exact age group time slot dates will be published soon. Each age group will have the option of attending one weeknight or one weekend evaluation slot.  ALL House players in grades 3-8 MUST ATTEND one of these sessions to enable us to build balanced teams for the upcoming season.  There are no evaluations for grades K-2 and grades 9-12. 

SELECT BASKETBALL PROGRAM:

The Select Basketball Program provides an opportunity for highly skilled and more serious players in 5th grade through 8th grade to try out to play in a competitive league against teams from surrounding communities. Unregistered Players will not be permitted to attend Select  Open Gyms and/or Select Tryouts.

Grade 4 and grade 3 players are eligible to tryout out for the 5th grade Select teams.  Please note that it is extremely rare that younger players make the team but each year one or two players have made the team.  Parents should carefully weigh this decision.  If your 3rd or 4th grade player does make a 5th grade Select team, they will not be able to play in the House program with their current classmates.

Registered players may participate in the Select tryouts for Great Falls Basketball Select teams beginning September 30th.  Please see our website for the exact days/times/locations for each tryout. 

Select team practices start in October, immediately after teams have been selected.  All players who try out for Select who do not make a Select team are guaranteed a spot in the House league.

FEES AND DONATIONS:

The registration fee is $195 per child through Sept 26th and increases to $225 on Sept 27th. We accept payment from VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover as well as by ACH.  Families with 3 or more children will receive a Family Discount of $15 for each child after the first two children are registered.  Please NOTE: ALL PLAYERS FROM THE SAME FAMILY MUST REGISTER AT THE SAME TIME IN ORDER FOR FAMILY DISCOUNT TO BE GIVEN.

Great Falls Basketball is a non-profit entity run entirely by volunteers from among you, your friends and neighbors in the community.  If you cannot volunteer to help out or participate in the program, we encourage you to consider making a donation to the program when you register.  All Great Falls Basketball funds are devoted to the youth basketball and referee programs, as well as to improving the basketball-related opportunities for children in our community.  You may be interested to know, for example, that over the past 10 years Great Falls Basketball funded new wood floors, fiberglass backboards and adjustable side baskets at Aldrin ES, Colvin Run ES, Great Falls ES, Forestville ES, Lake Anne ES, and Dranesville ES. Your continued support will help maintain our operating reserves and enable us to continue to fund improvements such as these.

COACHES AND VOLUNTEERS:

When registering, please consider volunteering in the Great Falls Basketball program.  Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Grade Group Coordinators (GGC) are critical to running a successful program.
